Your files stay with you.

Setly Docs processes documents in your browser. PDF contents, document passwords, signatures and conversion results are not uploaded to a Setly Docs processing server.

What happens to your documents?

Files are processed on your device. The document editor also saves a recovery draft in this browser’s local database, including the current file, edits, form values and fonts. It is not uploaded or shared across devices. Choose Start over and confirm, or Discard draft on the upload screen, to remove it. Clearing this site’s browser data also removes drafts. Other conversion tools do not save recovery drafts. Download a copy to keep or share; downloads are saved wherever your browser normally saves files.

What is saved on this device?

If you save a workflow, its name, steps and settings are saved in this browser’s local storage. Document contents and passwords are not included. You can remove saved workflows from the Workflows page. Browser caches may retain the PDF and OCR engine assets. We also save the time the optional support prompt was shown, so it appears at most once a week on this device.

Network requests

Your browser downloads the website, fonts and processing engines from the hosting service. The hosting service may receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address and requested pages. On the homepage and individual guide pages, Google AdSense and its partners may receive connection information and use advertising cookies. Google’s consent tools also load on this privacy page. Advertising code does not load in the document tools or download screens. We do not send document contents, filenames, passwords or signatures to advertising services.

Advertising and your choices

Google and other third-party advertising providers may use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads based on visits to this site and other websites. Depending on your location and choices, these may be personalized or limited ads. Providers may receive your IP address, browser and device information, page address and ad interactions. Google’s consent message lets eligible visitors accept, decline or manage consent. You can revisit your choices below and manage cookies through your browser.

Optional contributions and feedback

If you choose to contribute, you open a Stripe-hosted checkout. Stripe receives your payment and contact information under its own privacy policy. Checkout links include general campaign labels (such as support page or download prompt), without document contents, filenames or visitor identifiers. Stripe provides payment and checkout analytics. Setly Docs can access payment records, including the contact details provided at checkout, amounts and payment status, to manage support payments, billing questions and refunds. Card details are entered with Stripe rather than on Setly Docs. See Stripe’s privacy policy. If you contact us, we use your message and contact details to respond. Payment and support records may be retained as needed for accounting, resolving disputes and legal obligations. Contact us to request access to or deletion of personal information; some records may need to be retained. Feedback opens a draft in your email app; it is only sent if you send the email.

Optional voice instructions

Typed editing instructions are processed on your device. If you choose Speak, your browser asks for microphone access and uses its speech recognition service. Depending on your browser, audio may be sent to its speech provider. Setly Docs does not send the document to that service or store audio. You can review and edit the transcript before applying a replacement.

Editing and signatures

Whiteout and cropping change what is visible; they do not securely erase the underlying content. The editor’s Redact tool removes content in a selected page area from the downloaded PDF. It does not sanitize metadata, attachments or other pages. Review the complete file before sharing sensitive information. Setly Docs signatures are visual marks, without certificate signing or an audit trail.

Review your results

Conversions and OCR can lose formatting or misread characters. Check downloaded documents before sharing them. Keep a copy of your original file.
